From the national protest, activist Edison Lika reacted after the Minister of Interior's statements about the protesters' lawyer, Gentian Serjani
The national protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office was also accompanied by a harsh reaction towards the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari.
From the protest podium, activist Edison Lika responded to the minister's statements, who rejected the accusations of lawyer Gentian Serjani for violence against a protester arrested at Police Station No. 3 and warned that, if the allegations prove untrue, the case could be referred to the National Chamber of Advocates.
Lika accused Lamallari of attacking lawyers defending protesters and sent him a direct message from the protest.
" Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari, who was tightening his collar when Rama appointed him, today had the courage to deal with lawyers. We also say to Besfort, the end has come! We will replace that collared suit with prison clothes! ", declared Lika.
The statement comes after Minister Lamallari reacted to the claims of lawyer Gentian Serjani, who had stated that an arrested protester, who according to him suffers from epilepsy, was raped in the police station premises.
Lamallari described these accusations as "totally unfounded and untrue", announced that the Police Supervision Agency had initiated verifications and added that the Ombudsman had not found any problems during his visit to the detainees. The Minister also warned that, if the allegations prove to be untrue, the State Police will have the right to refer the case to the prosecutor's office, as well as to the National Chamber of Advocacy.
Lika's reaction was greeted with cheers from protesters, while on the 35th day of the national protest, calls continue for the release of those arrested after clashes with the police and demands for the government's resignation.
