This is the shocking story for the show "Në Shënjestër", of a sister about her sister who tragically ended her life on the morning of March 10, drinking photoxine, after the cruel violence she had experienced from her ex-husband, the man with whom they had been connected since school and had planned a happy life. But since the wedding, the relationship had turned into an endless hell, which had haunted her even after the separation.
Marjana Kalaj could not see her sister Xhuana alive as she lay languishing in a hospital bed in the last moments of her life.
A life interrupted in the middle, as she says, by the man Juana had chosen to build her dreams around, like any girl at that age.
An event that still hides many mysteries today, while Xhuana's husband, Eraldo Fizi, continues to be on the run.
Juana, who was only 25 years old when she ended her life, left a letter afterward as evidence of the violence that Eraldo inflicted on her body.
That night, they were apparently together in an apartment rented by Xhuana in Tirana, with the intention of making amends, but apparently the conversation between them ended in violence and further in the final act of self-sacrifice by the 25-year-old.
"Xhuana worked every day, he didn't work, and it seemed like she experienced a very serious condition from this toxic environment and decided to separate because the relationship was no longer going as it should," says Marjana Kalaj.
According to sister Marjana's story, Xhuana and Eraldo had known each other for years. Even since school, and this had led them to be together. A love that seemed unbreakable by anything and that in 2025 was crowned with marriage. But it was here that everything changed in Eraldo's behavior.
Marjana says that he began to become aggressive and this brought about the first and deepest contradictions between him and his sister Xhuana. An important factor in poisoning this relationship was also Eraldo's family, which, according to Marjana, did not support Xhuana.
Another reason for their quick separation was Eraldo's life of vice, which was affecting their new finances as a couple.
"They have known each other for 7-8 years. After a long relationship, they got married. But when they got married, many problems began in Eraldo's family. Eraldo's family did not support him. There was psychological violence from his mother-in-law. The ex-husband continued his nightlife, gambling," she says.
It would be precisely these problems that led Xhuana to the decision to separate from Eraldo and continue her life in Tirana. A decision that, according to Marjana, was not made by Xhuana to finally separate from Eraldo, since she loved him. But to give him time to reflect on all the reasons that had turned their new marital relationship into a toxic one.
But also to give another meaning to her professional life.
This was because Xhuana had completed her studies in jurisprudence and had become a notary public. A profile that she wanted to practice.
"There was psychological violence, but Juana loved him very much and hoped that he would change. As time passed, she thought that even when they separated, he would get back together. Juana lived with the hope that he would have great feelings for her and they would live together, but he changed completely. He became very aggressive ," she said.
It would be precisely this aggressive behavior of Eraldo, which would come and become more present in his relationship with Xhuana, whom he apparently considered as his property acquired since school. The reason why he never understood Xhuana's decision to leave Lezha and settle in Tirana.
Where she had thought that Eraldo's separation from the toxic family environment where he had grown up could give him the right reflection on how to build and maintain a new marital relationship.
"He became very verbally abusive. He didn't stop following my sister until the last night that we found out that my sister gave her life due to his violence. Barbaric violence, violence that I don't know how he got his hands on my sister. Three months after marriage that she experienced this psychological violence, this toxic environment in her husband's family. She couldn't find comfort. And she thought that maybe the two of them, separated, would start a new life in Tirana because her sister came to Tirana for work reasons. To find herself in the profession with the hope that her life would be much better, but he didn't leave her alone. Maybe out of excessive jealousy, maybe out of the idea that my sister was feeling good in Tirana, she would start a notary job in her profession and we still don't know why he exercised violence against our sister," says Marjana.
As Marjana recounts, Eraldo did not leave Xhuana alone in Tirana either. Where she had initially moved to her sister's place and then rented an apartment with a friend of hers. But without thinking that the worst had not yet come and that they would accompany their sister for the second time wearing her wedding dress, but this time dressed in black./ "In the Target"
