Assassination of journalist Ranucci, Italian media: Under investigation is the

The assassination attempt that occurred a few days ago against the Italian journalist, Sigfrido Ranucci, moderator of the show 'Report', is being intensively investigated by the Italian authorities, while one of the investigation leads is the one related to Albanians.

In an article today, "La Repubblica"  writes that the Italian anti-mafia is investigating the Albanian drug lord Artur Shehu. Citing investigative sources, La Repubblica writes that the Anti-Mafia Directorate has received information from Vlora about Shehu's possible involvement in the explosion that occurred on October 16, under the apartment of the moderator of the show 'Report'.

Meanwhile, according to the article, the possibility of the motive is related to an episode of the show 'Report' dated April 21, 2024, with an episode titled "(Hot) Spot Albanian", on the project of centers for immigrants that Italy has set up in Albania.

In that episode, Shehu's name is mentioned several times and placed in a context of relationships and businesses that affect Albanian political and institutional circles.

Artur Shehu's name is not unknown. He also appears to have been involved in what is now known as the Aruba meeting, held in January 2019.

There is an Albanian lead in the investigation into the attack on Sigfrido Ranucci.

The name on which investigators are now focusing is Artur Shehu, 58, an entrepreneur originally from Albania, considered by various investigations to be an important figure in his country's organized crime.

He currently lives in the United States, either in Florida, where he lives a private life in Miami, or where he has lived for several years.

According to investigative sources, the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate also received information from Vlora, in southern Albania, regarding Shehu's possible involvement in the explosion that occurred on October 16 near the moderator of the Report show.

This is, for the moment, a hypothesis that requires further confirmation and final verifications, but is nevertheless being closely followed by the magistrates of the Anti-Mafia Directorate of the District of Rome, Deputy Prosecutor Ilaria Calò and Prosecutor Carlo Villani, together with the Carabinieri of the Investigation Unit who have been trying for days to reconstruct every detail of the assassination.

The possible motive may be related to an episode of Report on April 21, 2024, a report titled "(Hot) Spot Albanian", about the project for immigrant centers that Italy has built in Albania, in Shëngjin' and Gjadra.

In that report, Shehu's name appears in several passages and is placed in a context of relationships and business agreements that affect Albanian political and institutional circles.

In the Rai 3 program, the 58-year-old Albanian is described as a major drug trafficker, already cited as under international investigation for suspected links to Cosa Nostra and Sacra Corona Unita.

According to the journalistic investigation, Shehu donated 30,000 square meters of land near Vlora to the foundation of General Fabrizio Lisi, at the time head of the Guadia di Finanza in Albania. The operation, according to the Report show, was mediated by lawyer Engjëll Agaçi, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers of Albania and close associate of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who was also a key figure in finalizing the bilateral agreement.

Shehu's name was not new to the international press either. In March 2021, the American newspaper Miami Herald dedicated an in-depth investigation to him, titled "From a Miami Beach villa, a man with suspected mafia ties builds a business empire in Albania."

The article builds a detailed portrait of his life in the United States, describing his life on Alton Road, "a few steps from Biscayne Bay," surrounded by royal palm trees, with a well-kept lawn and two luxury cars parked on the street.

Today, it is also said that the prosecutor's office is verifying this international profile, seeking corroboration between the information collected in Albania and the 58-year-old's movements.

Numerous clues remain as to who ordered the attack, reflecting the volume of investigations the Report has conducted over the years, often delving into sensitive areas and touching on important economic and criminal interests.

At this stage, however, the attention of investigators appears to be focused mainly on certain sectors of the Albanian mafia, while the Carabinieri continue their investigations to identify who actually planted the explosives.

A second suspect is the one who tried to force his way into the journalist's home last summer, but was unsuccessful. /Pamphlet/
