The Director of the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), Eduart Merkaj, went this Wednesday, November 12, to the office of Interior Minister Albana Koçiu after the brutal assassination attempt in Rinas that shocked the country.
This meeting comes just one day after the serious incident that occurred in Rinas, where Gilmando Dani was killed, while his friend, who at that moment was the driver in the car and who turned out to be an AMP agent, Muçi Shaljani (Sheqeri), was seriously injured.
Following the event, the Police Supervision Agency has ordered the suspension of the chain of command of this agency's Special Operations Force until the circumstances of the Rinas assassination are fully clarified.
An internal verification of the administrative procedures followed as well as the full practice regarding Shaljan's recruitment procedure within the agency has also been immediately initiated.
Meanwhile, we still have not received a reaction from Police Chief Proda and Minister Albana Koçiu.
We remind you that Shaljani was employed since September of this year and had a 3-month contract until mid-December at the time when the institution was headed by Artiol Saliasi.
On the other hand, DSIK, an institution that verifies the background of AMP employees, reports that Shaljani does not have a security certificate. We recall that he is in serious health condition as a result of two bullets he received in the head.
It is believed that the target of the assassination attempt was his friend, Gilmando Dani, who died on the spot.
Police have been checking business and airport cameras for suspicious movements by other people who may have been informants for the perpetrators. The latter were waiting for the victim and his friend inside a Toyota car, parked near the roundabout.
Investigators are checking all other cars or people who pass by the airport exit gate several times. The focus is on those people who stayed longer and left as soon as Gilmando Dani and Muçi Shaljani left. However, so far there are no concrete names as suspects.
The license plates of the perpetrators' Toyota were found to have been stolen in Greece last year. It has not yet been determined whether the car was stolen or not because the chassis number was not recovered due to the car being burned.
The perpetrators, who were four (three shooters and a driver), came from the Nikla area towards Rinas, the area from which they later fled. There they burned their car and lost track.
