Incident in Pogradec, the chairman of the commission threatens the journalist

An incident was recorded today at polling station no. 3899/00, located on the premises of the “Koli Gusho” school in Pogradec. "Euronews Albania" journalist Ferikan Iljazi faced threats because she was exercising her right to report from this polling station.

According to the journalist's own reports and the footage obtained, the head of the polling station commission threatened Iljazi that he would notify the police to request her arrest, even though she was equipped with official accreditation from the Central Election Commission.

Initially, the head of the commission limited the time she was allowed to film in the polling station premises, then proceeded to call on other commission members to force the journalist out.

Despite repeated requests for clarification, the chairman of the committee has refused to provide explanations on camera regarding this behavior.

This action constitutes a violation of the rights of accredited journalists to closely follow and report on the electoral process and raises serious concerns about media freedom and transparency on election day.

Euronews Albania has reacted by condemning the incident and demanding that the relevant authorities, including the Central Election Commission, intervene to guarantee the smooth conduct of journalists' work in the field and respect for their legal rights.
