The opposition and its supporters protested on Saturday afternoon against Prime Minister Edi Rama, while the rally ended after about 3 hours with a series of incidents and the use of force by the police.
Tear gas and pressurized water were the methods chosen by the police to disperse the protesters, while around 23 people were escorted to Tirana police stations, 18 of whom were arrested.
Among the people who were detained was a minor, who was caught by police agents near the Namazgja mosque, where he had entered to wash his face, after being hit by tear gas that was released without limit by the police.
"I was in the mosque. I was washing my face from the gas. While I was looking at the police, 5 civilians came to me. They turned my hands, put handcuffs on me, sat me down under the mosque, shot me and brought me here. I stayed here for 2-3 hours. I gave them my last name and they made some papers. I don't know what they were doing! Some deputies came to me, what are their names, and they took me out," says the minor, for whom there was a series of reactions on social networks, as the footage of him being arrested was published.
The minor was among 23 people who were escorted to Police Station number 1 after, according to the police, they were found to have thrown stones and hard objects at law enforcement officers.
