Gjergj Nika has been registered by the CEC for the November 9 local by-elections for the Municipality of Vlora as an independent candidate.
Just a few days ago, the CEC itself had rejected his request to run.
However, the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, stated that after reviewing the draft decision, the Electoral College decided that Nika would be a candidate for the Municipality of Vlora and would be third on the candidacy list.
" Following the decision of the Electoral College dated October 30, 2025, we reviewed the draft decision "On the registration and assignment of the ordinal number on the ballot for the candidate for Mayor Mr. Gjergji Nikë Nika, proposed by the voters, for the Municipality of Vlora, for the partial local elections in several local government units, dated November 9, 2025."
"We decided to register Mr. Gjergji Nikë Nika as a candidate for mayor of Vlora, proposed by the voters and he will be ranked third on the ballot of the Vlora Municipality electoral unit ," said Celibashi.
