The request for the judge's disqualification was initially articulated by Veliaj during the February 2 session, held at the Special Court premises.
The Special Court of First Instance (GJKKO) rejected this Friday the request of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, to exclude judge Etleva Deda from the case under his jurisdiction.
The decision was made by the rapporteur of the case, Judge Bib Ndreca, who ruled to reject the request filed on February 4, 2026.

During the last session at the GJKKO, there were verbal clashes between Mayor Erion Veliaj and the jury. According to sources from the courtroom, Veliaj left the session, claiming that he was not heard and was not given the floor by the jury.
The trial against the mayor of Tirana continues, while the latest decision of the Special Court paves the way for the continuation of the examination of the case by the same panel.
