The RTSH Steering Council has reacted to the debates regarding the race for the head of the Public Radio and Television. The Socialist Party and the Democratic Party attacked the procedure followed by the Council, describing as absurd the fact that a candidate like Eni Vasili had been eliminated. The first to react was Ina Zhupa, while Evis Kushi came out today alongside her. But the Steering Council has released documents refuting their claims.

Given the public interest and the need for transparency in the process of selecting the Director General of RTSH, legal experts provided RTSH with an explanation of the procedures and path followed by the Steering Council.
The criteria and procedures for the election of the Director General of RTSH are set out in Articles 10 and 11 of the Statute of Radio Television of Albania, approved by Decision No. 98, dated 22.12.2016, of the Assembly of Albania. Due to the vacancy created, in accordance with Article 10 of the Statute, the RTSH Steering Council, by decision dated 06.01.2025, set the application period for the election of the Director General from 7 to 20 January 2025.
In support of Article 11 of the Statute and the decision of the Steering Council, the candidates for the position of General Director submitted the documentation, according to the announced criteria, in a sealed envelope to the Chairman of the Steering Council of RTSH, within 10 days after their publication.
At the end of the deadline, it turned out that 10 candidates had applied, according to the minutes signed by the chairman of the Steering Council. Upon the end of the application deadline, according to Article 11, point 2, of the Statute, the Steering Council is tasked with evaluating the candidacies submitted in support of the submitted documentation, verifying and specifying their authenticity and, by secret ballot, deciding on their inclusion in the competition, by listing them in alphabetical order of surname.
The Steering Council held its meeting, convened by the Chairman of the Board, on January 27, 2025. During this meeting, the candidates and the fulfillment of the criteria were discussed (as confirmed by the minutes) and 3 decisions were made (attached decisions no. 3, no. 4 and no. 5).

The Steering Council, with decision no. 3, dated 27.01.2025, unanimously decided to establish a committee to select candidates who meet the criteria for competition for the position of "General Director of RTSH". This committee consisted of Dionis Papadhimitri, Ardita Reçi and Genc Përmeti.
The Steering Committee, with decision no. 4, dated 27.01.2025, unanimously decided not to select 5 candidates due to lack of documentation for entering the competition, such as: Laureta Roshi, Florina Paskali, Flamur Buçpapaj, Harilla Koçi and Enrik Mehmeti.

The Steering Council, with decision no. 5, dated 27.01.2025, decided to select the candidates who meet the criteria for competition, with this voting result:
Kliton Rama 4 pro/5 con
Jetmir Shpuza 7 for/2 against
Ermal Hoxha 3pro/6 against Eni Vasili 4 pro/5 against
Aurora Polo 7 pro/2 con
According to Article 11, point 3, of the RTSH Statute, candidates who meet the criteria are invited to present their platforms before the Steering Council no later than 5 days from the date of the application deadline. Candidates have 15 minutes to present their platform and 15 minutes for questions. The Steering Council, with decision no. 5, dated 27.01.2025, decided that in the hearing phase, as a result of the vote, the following will be called: Jetmir Shpuza and Aurora Polo.
