Journalist Andi Tela, while speaking about the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja, stated that the perpetrator, Elvis Shkambi, had prepared for today's event by going to the hearing with a gun, because in the previous hearing, members of the Shkambi family had argued fiercely with the judge.
Meanwhile, journalist Ferdinant Dervishi stated that the security of the building was entrusted to a private firm, which had ignored security measures.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Ferdinant Dervishi: The head of the private guards has been arrested. We have private guards in the courts. The problem has been raised as to why we have private police, not state police who are more authoritarian. There are two entrances, one for the judges and one for the people. Now either the device did not work, but let it pass because the keys are there because they make a noise like a pistol, so the guards did not give them any importance. This is how it is when there are private police.
Andi Tela: The murderer entered there with a pistol and convinced that he would not be caught and that he would not be searched. He argued with the judge a session before. The party that hit the judge argued with him. And he was aware of how to get inside. He knew that the detector did not work. Not to mention the courtrooms, which are a few small rooms. That building that was the Court of Appeal for Tirana is now for all of Albania.
After '45, the state built these buildings. It is known in Shkodra as the Bachelors' Palace. In 1992, 31 homeless families were moved there by decision of the municipal council. The Shkambi family claimed both the land and the buildings and became the owners. The conflict began at these moments because they have the right of pre-emption.
