The General Directorate of Prisons has conducted surprise inspections in three prison institutions, while communication devices and other prohibited items have been seized.
According to the official announcement, the checks were carried out by the operational forces of the Prison Police Directorate in Fier, Vlora and Peqin, and focused on identifying and seizing prohibited items within prison premises.
During the operation, communication device accessories that constitute a criminal offense, improvised cutting tools, as well as other prohibited and excessive items were found and seized. Also noteworthy was the introduction of several armchairs used for outdoor environments.
The Internal Control Service of the Prison System has been notified of the identified cases, which is expected to follow further legal and administrative procedures.
The General Directorate of Prisons stated that it remains committed to guaranteeing order, security and law enforcement in all prison institutions.
According to the authorities, controls will continue with high intensity in all prisons in the country, while emphasizing that "tolerance towards violations is zero."
