The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has appealed to the Supreme Court to change the security measure of "prison arrest".
According to journalist Anila Hoxha, the request was filed on May 6, where Veliaj requests the replacement of the current measure with a milder security measure, such as a property guarantee or an obligation to appear.
It is learned that the Supreme Court has drawn lots for the case, and the file has been assigned to Judge Albana Boksi for reporting.
The Mayor of Tirana is under investigation and is being tried by the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime on charges of corruption and money laundering.
Veliaj has been held under the security measure of "prison arrest" since February of last year.
