Evidence in the prosecution for 6 dictatorship burial sites, Files Authority:
File Authority

The State Security Files Authority submitted evidence to the General Prosecutor's Office and responsible institutions for 6 suspected burial sites of persons missing during the communist regime, requesting the continuation of legal procedures for excavations and identification of mortal remains.

According to the Authority, after a several-year investigation, the collection of evidence and archival verifications, as well as expertise with radar and anthropological methods, data with high probability of the presence of bones in several areas of the country have been identified.

Among the burial sites referenced are the Rrmajit Cemetery in Shkodër, the area near the former Spaç Prison, Shpali, Mallkeqi, Shënvasili and Sheleguri on the Gramoz mountain. These areas are suspected to contain the remains of people executed or disappeared during the years of the communist dictatorship.

The Files Authority calls for inter-institutional coordination for the implementation of controlled excavations, DNA identification and the return of remains to families. The clarification of the fate of the missing remains a human, legal and moral obligation for Albanian society, the Files Authority emphasizes.

The referenced burial sites include:
• The Rrmaji Cemetery in Shkodër, where the remains of Jup Kazazi, Sait Kazazi, Gjon Shllaku, Dom Luigj Zojzi and other persons executed during the years 1948–1953 are suspected;
• the area near the former Spaç Prison in Mirditë;
• the Shpal area near the church, where the organizers of the Spaç Revolt of 1973 are suspected: Pal Zefi, Skënder Daja, Hajri Pashaj and Dervish Bejko;
• the suspected burial site in Mallkeq;
• the suspected burial site in Shënvasil, where Hasan Hamza, Fiqiri Marika and Zyhdi Çitaku are suspected;
• as well as the suspected burial site in Shelegur, on the Gramoz mountain, where the suspected remains of Dhimitër Kono are located./Shqiptarja.Com
