Kosovo bans meat imports from Brazil: Albanian government awards it to nurseries

The European Food Safety Authority blocks meat with bird flu, salmonella and dangerous diseases. Albania continues to import it and distribute it to markets and public institutions, with false labels...

On 20 May 2025, the European Food Safety Authority – EFSA, based on EU Regulation 396/05, banned the import into the European Union of all poultry and livestock meat originating from Brazil.
This decision came after border controls revealed the massive presence of dangerous diseases such as bluetongue, swine flu, avian flu and salmonella in quantities of meat imported from this country.

At the same time, Brazilian authorities officially acknowledged the outbreak of these diseases, informing the European Commission of the emergency situation on May 16. Four days later, Brussels took action.

But while the EU has closed its borders to this threat, the Albanian government and the National Food Authority continue to allow the import and distribution of infected meat from Brazil.
Not only that: many of these products, with false labels such as “fresh local meat”, are sold in mass markets and used in public tenders for nurseries, kindergartens, schools, hospitals, dormitories and social centers.

Beware! We are facing a silent and organized crime, which does not kill with weapons, but with food products. Albania receives about 80% of its chicken and cattle meat from Brazil, through Albanian companies and sub-companies in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania.

Despite the fact that the European Commission and EFSA itself have sent official signals to the Albanian government to ban these imports, they continue to enter Albania every day.
Because behind the importers are hidden monopoly companies that have direct ties to the government, with high-ranking government officials and politicians who benefit through partnerships or bribes.

Kosovo immediately banned imports on May 20. Albania did not. Because in Albania, the imported meat business is part of a structured network, a mini-food mafia with political support, operating with fake labels, forged certificates and no real controls.

And while EFSA warns of a serious risk of the spread of zoonotic diseases, Albania continues to experiment on its citizens; on children in kindergartens, patients in hospitals, the elderly in social centers, and the entire population that consumes cheap, dubious, imported meat.

Today, not only are we outside the EU, but we are also outside the most minimal standards of public health protection. We are the only country in the region that not only does not ban dangerous products, but uses them in state tenders.

Anyone who allows this is directly responsible for the collective poisoning of an entire society./ Pamphlet
