"Making enemies in politics means that Albania becomes unlivable for you", said the lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu in an interview for Euronews Albania while emphasizing that the prosecution and the special court have an extraordinary difficulty.
He said that it is very difficult to investigate politicians in Albania, even this is much more difficult in our country than in many other countries in the world because according to the lawyer, dealing with politics means that you will have to deal even with the mafia. He said that the mafia and politics in Albania are closely related to each other, so the pressure on the investigators is always very high.
"I think that Albania is one of the most dangerous countries to be hostile to politics because, unlike any other European country, if you make politics an enemy in Albania, you have made an enemy of the mafia. Mafia and politics in Albania are one, while in the west you fight with half, which means, when you have a mafia issue, you have the mafia; when you have politics, you have politics. They are not one.
They may be indirectly related, but in Albania, the most incriminated mafia families are part of Albanian politics. I absolutely understand that either the Special Prosecutor's Office or the Special Court are in an extraordinary difficulty. Making enemies in politics means that Albania is unlivable for you, or you have to live in isolation. You must be guarded at all times because you will be in danger and in eternal enmity. So far I think it's coping. The pressure is obvious", said lawyer Spahiu.
