At the inauguration ceremony of the new premises of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, the acting president of the institution, Erion Bani, emphasized the importance of transparency in the justice system and the role of the media in this process.
He stated that the functioning of a court is directly related to its security and independence, while also focusing on the use of assets seized from illegal activities for public interests.
According to Bani, returning these assets to the service of citizens conveys two messages: the state's ability to crack down on illegal profits and the opportunity to return them to the benefit of society.
"Courtrooms are the heart of the court and must guarantee solemnity, equality and dignity. Transparency is not a formal obligation, but part of the institutional culture of the court. The media is an important partner in strengthening transparency and public trust. Security and dignity in the judicial process are not mutually exclusive, but coexist. A safer court is a more independent and functional court. Illegally created wealth does not remain in the hands of crime, but is returned to society in public service. This investment shows that the rule of law knows how to turn illegality into public value. This transformation is the beginning of a new standard, not the end of a project. Justice is measured by the way citizens are expected, heard and treated," he said.
