Today, the new premises of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) were inaugurated.
At a ceremony, the head of the institution, Erion Bani, emphasized that the investment marks a new standard for the functioning of the court.
"Today, a new institutional standard is being established for the GJKKO, more modern, more functional, more dignified and more transparent," he declared during his speech.
According to Bani, justice is not a structure that exists in itself, but a direct service to the citizen and to strengthening public trust.
"The court does not exist for itself, but for the citizen and for public trust," he said.
He also emphasized the importance of the environment where justice is delivered, considering it part of the message that the institution conveys.
"The environment in which justice is delivered is part of the very message of justice and its quality," said Bani, adding that the inspiration for this transformation also comes from international experience, including the judicial system in the United States.
Bani underlined that judicial infrastructure is part of the culture of justice and the authority of the law, describing the investment not as a luxury, but as an institutional necessity.
"This transformation is not a luxury, but an institutional necessity and a responsibility towards the citizen," he said.
Speaking about the functioning of courtrooms, Bani described them as the "heart of the court", which must guarantee solemnity, equality and dignity in the process.
He also emphasized transparency, which he considered part of the institutional culture and not just a formal obligation. According to him, the media plays an important role in strengthening this transparency and public trust.
In his statements, Bani also focused on security in the judicial process, emphasizing that it does not conflict with dignity, but coexists with it.
"A safer court is a more independent and functional court," he said.
In conclusion, he stressed the importance of returning illegally obtained assets, underlining that they should serve society and not crime.
