"Deplorable conditions and lack of hygiene", the former nurse tells

Sitting next to each other, this is the last photo together of the two seniors.

One of them, Zyhdi Shehi, came out of the asylum with handcuffs, while the other, Virghil Vesho, was taken out of there dead, first sent to a funeral agency as an elderly person who had died of natural causes, and then taken to the morgue as killed by friend.

When the investigation group revealed the scheme of what happened in the old people's home on Ali Visha Street, and when the author is being treated in a psychiatric hospital by order of the Court, the Prosecutor's Office administered the records of two elderly people, one with sclerosis and the other with Parkinson's. and dementia, also data on administrators.

What the Prosecutor's Office has requested in the last few hours is the seizure of the employees' cards, to understand whether or not they meet the conditions to serve as caregivers for the elderly. On the other hand, he also administered the testimony of the doctor employed in the private asylum, who was informed by the two nurses under investigation about the incident. Nazmie Mulla and Glesantina Saraçin say that after seeing the injured victim, they remembered that he had fallen accidentally.

"I didn't appreciate that I had to check the body", the asylum doctor declares in the file, "after they told me that the old man had fallen on me and I asked you to notify the funeral agency".

A former employee who worked as a nurse, on the condition of anonymity, tells about the conditions there after the crime.

"I had the position of a nurse, but not all of them were licensed. They were hired even if they had completed a nursing school and that was it. The elderly were not selected, a family member brought an elderly person and they hired him directly. The capacity was full, there were cases when we decided to sleep two patients in one bed during the night. With the night shift there are two nurses and it is impossible to check all the patients, while the rule is that every elderly person should be checked every one hour during the night" , said the former - the nurse.

Why did they bind the elderly?

"It's not allowed, the family members don't know because they wouldn't leave their father or mother in that state. Many patients who were unmanageable, those on the nursing floor were ordered to tie them up because we found them shot down or killed", she said.

However, the only institution that should check public and non-public centers for the elderly is the State Health Inspectorate, which refused to say whether or not it started checking this center after the incident.

Former nurse: As far as I've been, none of the institutions have come for a check-up. Hygiene, food and personnel had to be controlled. The food was not of high quality. During the night, the patients would get up and ask for bread because they usually consumed milk and yogurt. Some of them were fed through a syringe. They also generally ate bread with eggs and cheese. Conditions were somewhat miserable, hygiene is zero.

There is only one graph made by KLSH on asylums in Albania and it recommends a lot of changes from guardians to the legal package that needs to be intervened./TCH
