Investigative journalist Artan Hoxha stated that he had told Berisha that he would end up like Pinochet, the former Chilean dictator, who was executed at the age of 80.
In an interview for the show "The Unexposed", Hoxha said sarcastically that with Berisha, they sped up a bit, since he is 78 years old today.
However, Hoxha said that he did not feel good at this moment that the most important man in the last 30 years, the man who has been president twice and prime minister twice, is in this position today.
Excerpts from the studio conversation:
Artan Hoxha: I told Berisha six years ago that you will end up like Pinochet.
Ergys Mërtiri : Yes, you said it to his face, even.
Artan Hoxha : And unlike Mërtiri, I told him that it will happen after the age of 80, but they accelerated it a bit earlier. Pinochet was taken in a cart to communicate the decision and returned to the clinic.
Ylli Rakipi : Do you always think these Americans are old?
Artan Hoxha : They follow through on what they say. Berisha has been the main investment in the last 30 years. In the statement made by the secretary of state, Antony Blinken, on May 18, 2021, he says that: "In his official capacity, especially as prime minister, Berisha was involved in corrupt actions such as the misuse of public funds and interference in the processes public, including the use of power for personal gain". This is the accusation that Sali Berisha currently has from SPAK.
Ylli Rakipi : It is clear that the accusation that he raised in Albania is a collective document.
Artan Hoxha : Today, SPAK has exactly this sentence that it took from Blinken's speech and turned it into a criminal charge. Blinken's statement continues with more serious accusations and as far as I know in SPAK the accusations against him have just begun.
Ylli Rakipi : Why will Berisha be punished as if he did all the things in Albania?
Artan Hoxha: There is no need, he will be tried. He may turn out to be innocent, but it will go according to DASH's statement. Berisha promised us that he would oppose this US decision with a process in France. Do you know what happened to that process?
Ylli Rakipi : Yes, he would say something too.
Artan Hoxha : I don't feel good at this moment that the most important man in the last 30 years, the man who was president twice and prime minister twice. So in 111 years of statehood, 12 percent was dominated by Sali Berisha and I don't feel good that he is in this position today, even in terms of security.
Berisha has been the largest American investment in 20 years from 1990.
Ylli Rakipi : No, no, it wasn't. In 1997, no, but then he was amnestied because these others made a mess of him.
