For the analyst and sociologist Ergys Mërtiri, the removal of Berisha's immunity was expected, because this was foreseen since he was declared non grata by the USA.
Mertiri declared in the show "The Unexposed", that the Americans would not go to Rama without finishing work with Berisha and Meta.
Regarding the tightening of the measure, he stated that considering how the funerals unfolded, his arrest was expected.
Excerpts from the studio conversation:
Ergys Mërtiri: For me it was expected and I have said it since two years ago and I have seen the behavior of Mr. Berisha to protect himself from this day. From the way he is behaving, he leaves no other way. At the moment it was declared non grata and the Americans meanwhile made the SPAK, I believe that these were related to each other, because the declaration of non grata was also made, telling them that there is a file and this will come to Albania. I don't know if it has come, but in the spirit that is being produced, it will come.
Coupled with the fact that Mr. Berisha has been attacking SPAK all this time and more than Rama, it makes you understand that he was afraid of SPAK.
Ylli Rakipi: In fact, we have asked for that file, but it is not there. It is a mostly political decision by the USA to hit a man whom they say has undermined democracy, then he adds these words corruption etc. That if you take them for corruption, they should all be taken and locked in a big hole.
Ergys Mërtiri : We can't afford prisons. Gabriel Escobar himself has asked an investigative institution to come and ask us for the file and we give it to them. So it didn't come because no one asked for it, because Berisha was protected by the people who led SPAK. Change and transition to Mr. Smoke and we remember the fight that Yuri Kim made with Mr. Rama, in order not to allow SPAK to be caught by him, is paving the way for a series of processes that have started, including Mr. Berisha.
I do not believe that the Americans have started this whole conflict in vain and I see it as a good thing. The arrest of Berisha, if it happens, will probably pave the way for the arrest of Rama as well.
Ylli Rakipi: This is a bit difficult, because the system has been taken over by someone else.
Ergys Mërtiri : For me, Berisha was Rama's guarantee. The Americans would not go to Rama without finishing work with Berisha and Meta.
Ylli Rakipi: You don't think that SPAK, the vast majority, helps and saves Rama?
Ergys Mërtiri : Rama has his own influences in SPAK, but he does not have it under control and this is a danger for him. And Rama tried to protect Berisha so that it would not be his turn.
