Salijanj's Movement, Nazarko: There is no strength to break Berisha, the

On the show "Të Pashoq", analyst Mentor Nazarko made an in-depth analysis of the political situation in the country, focusing especially on the opposition and the crisis of representation it is experiencing. Nazarko emphasized that Albania is in a sad political situation, where the lack of rotation and the weakness of the opposition are severely damaging the functioning of democracy.

He underlined that, if the prospect of European integration did not exist, Albania would be in a deep state of isolation and institutional stagnation. “ For Albania to enter the EU before Serbia is a national achievement, but this is happening while there is no rotation on the domestic political scene and the opposition is out of the game ,” declared Nazarko.

Commenting on the efforts of former MP Ervin Salianji to create an alternative within the DP, Nazarko expressed skepticism. He said that Salianji is not giving clear signals of determination and is not inspiring the electorate. “ It does not seem that he produces new energy. He is conditioned, he does not have stability in his positions. We have seen how he moved from Basha to Berisha, and today he does not have the weight to bring real change ,” he said.

-We have an opposition, a Democratic Party which now seems to have split again into two fronts, with two heads already. We have on one side Sali Berisha, on the other side Ervin Salianji in an attempt for a movement, ah, I don't know how it will end. On the other side a super majority, consolidated, despite the 1001 problems it has and which in principle the opposition should be lucky, should make the most of. How do you see this?

Yes, this is also, this is ours, that is, mother Albania's, a sad situation. In what sense? It would be sad if there were no such thing; this is, so to speak, the most positive element of this scene. If the Albanian political scene were to lack the news or the clear, or almost clear, perspective of European integration, then the situation would be truly darker. Because integration is not something propagandistic; it is an objective, an achievement of geostrategic importance.

For Albania to achieve this before Serbia, to enter the European family, is a great national achievement. So, if we did not have this news – that this objective seems close – then we would be in a total vacuum. In fact, this government, with all its problems, is doing its homework related to negotiations and the modernization of the state.

Now the real problems begin. We have opened all the chapters, but now it will be verified concretely how modern we are: on property, on agriculture, on pollution, on incinerators. On foreign policy we are at a high level. But, it is a sad situation because we do not have rotation. This is the first point. The second: the opposition in front does not offer an alternative.

I met with Chris Hill, who remembered Berisha in 1990–1991. And now, after serving in various countries like Poland, Korea, Macedonia, he returns and finds Mr. Berisha at the head of the opposition again.

The effort that Salianji is making is positive, but it does not seem to be producing new energy. Why? Because it is not clear what it is conditioned by; it does not show clear determination, like before, when he was with Basha and the "Babale" issue happened. This determination is not visible. He justifies it with the fact that Berisha is elected, but does not resonate with the public or the democratic electorate to a degree that would bring real changes within the DP.

Not to mention the fact that opposition parties need funding to function normally, to keep propaganda and internal organization alive. And the DP is, in reality, a private party. It is Mr. Berisha's party. Therefore, for me, it is completely impossible for Salianji to achieve any major change in this situation.

private. It's Mr. Berisha's party, so Salianji will never, no, I see it totally impossible for him to achieve anything, that is, in this.
