A few months ago, on social media, Prime Minister Edi Rama promoted the glacial lake in Gramoz, Kolonjë, while inviting tourists to visit it.

But it seems that Greece has its own claims to the lake in question, while Gistova is located on the border between the two countries.

Greek media write that the Albanian side has made a provocation, referring to the Prime Minister's post on the social network, while stating that everything came about due to a Google error!

Lake Gistova, or Drakolimni of Grammos, is located at an altitude of 2,350 meters and is the highest and largest alpine lake in Greece, while also being an important wetland.

Greek media reports that about two years ago it was noticed that on Google Maps the border line with Albania does not match the real border, as they place Lake Gistova on the Albanian side!

The issue also reached the Parliament, where the former head of the SYRIZA-PS National Defense Department, Evangelos Apostolakis, states that about two years ago, the border divided the lake between Greece and Albania and since last year the lake has passed entirely into Albania, according to the maps in question, as well as a publication that states that "the Greek border line has passed to the border of the border".

The General Staff responded that appropriate action has been taken against Google to make the correction.

Newsbomb.gr was in Kastoria and spoke with the mayor of Nestorio, Christos Gosliopoulos, who, explaining the situation, said that the Albanian side is trying to exploit Google's mistake by considering the Albanian lake, not only for tourism, as we saw from Edi Rama's post, but also for research!

"We have taken all necessary actions, notifying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Army Geographical Service. They told us that they are aware of this issue. The authorities should take systematic action, which means that this Google error is causing problems that are being exploited by neighbors," he said. /Adapted Pamphlet/
