Lake Ohrid, located between Albania and North Macedonia, has been selected as one of the most beautiful places in Europe by Time Out travel journalists, drawing attention as a still underrated natural destination.
While famous lakes like Como in Italy are visited by over a million tourists and celebrities each year, Ohrid offers a quieter and more affordable alternative, without losing any of its natural beauty.
Considered one of the oldest and deepest lakes on the continent, it is characterized by crystal clear waters, mountainous landscapes and shores rich in history. On the North Macedonian side, the city of Ohrid remains a major tourist attraction, known for its cobblestone streets and rich religious heritage, with dozens of medieval churches.
Meanwhile, the Albanian side offers a more peaceful and authentic experience, with villages like Lini, known for its ancient mosaics and picturesque lakeside setting, attracting visitors in search of nature and relaxation.
Time Out's list also includes other popular European destinations, such as the Norwegian fjords, Kew Gardens in London and Casa Batlló in Barcelona.
