Frequent hair dyeing can cause cancer. Several studies conducted in the US have shown that women who use hair dye regularly have a higher risk of breast cancer, compared to those who do not use it.
Monika Fida, dermatologist: "We are talking about women who have been using hair dye for many years. The ingredients of hair dye themselves contain oncogenic substances, that is, chemicals that over time can act as causes of cancer in the individual."
But studies that speak of an increased risk of cancer in women are not limited to hair, as even a daily beauty practice like painting your nails with 'gel' manicure carries such a risk.
Monika Fida, dermatologist: "Due to the radiation we receive during the application of 'gel' manicure in small drying ovens, the risk of skin cancer automatically increases, in addition to the oncogenic risk carried by the substances we use during this process."
When it comes to trends and the desire to look as good as possible, men are no exception. In recent years, there has been an increased desire for tattoos, perhaps without knowing that they also carry a risk of cancer.
Monika Fida, dermatologist: "The application, especially of large tattoos on the body, is associated with an oncogenic effect from the ink. Over time, these individuals are at risk of developing various types of cancer in the body, certainly in different organs."
The expression 'Beauty costs money' takes on full meaning in these cases, where the cost goes beyond the financial one, putting our health into question. In these conditions, doctors recommend that we be careful and not abuse the application of these chemicals to the body. /Euronews Albania
