The Greek media have devoted an article to the resignation of Jorgo Goros from the leadership of the municipality of Himara.
According to the Greek media "Kathimerini", the goal of the Albanian government is to appoint a temporary mayor before the New Year.
Also, it is said that this is a strategic move by Rama, as a catalyst to balance Greek-Albanian relations.
"The Albanian government is currently working on the creation of a legal framework that would enable the appointment of a temporary mayor, in accordance with the reasoning presented in the last statement of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The aim is to ensure that the interim mayor, who is expected to be a member of the Greek national minority, is elected before the New Year. This strategic move by Rama is perceived in Tirana as a potential catalyst for restoring a balance in Greek-Albanian relations", writes the Greek media.
In a post on social networks, where he acknowledges the crisis in the municipality of Himara, Prime Minister Edi Rama had labeled Beler as "elected president" and Goro "the defeated candidate without legitimacy", according to the article of the Greek newspaper.
We remind you that Goro remained in office, despite losing the May 14 elections, while the winner of the race is Fredi Beleri, who is behind bars for buying votes, failing to take the oath under these conditions.
Jorgo Goro's decision comes after Prime Minister Edi Rama's warning about his departure from office. It is learned that the resignation has also been presented to the prefect of the Vlora region.
Another member of the SP is expected to be appointed at the head of the Himare municipality until the end of the new elections.
