Analyst Mentor Nazarko stated that the Special Prosecution Office, SPAK, has remained the only 'opposition' in the country since the DP and the new parties are extremely weak.
In an interview for the show "Të Pashoj" on Pamflet's YouTube channel, Nazarko said that SPAK is the institution that has hit the 'Rama' government the hardest.
However, he added that despite SPAK having set high standards for the functioning of justice, it has failed to impose new morality in public procurement, which, according to him, is the weakest link and continues to be problematic.
Excerpt from the interview:
– Do you agree when it is said that the only opposition left in this country, if it can be called that in quotes, is SPAK?
Nazarko : Yes, SPAK has tried, probably also because of international assistance, to demonstrate equidistance between the opposition and the government. I think it has greatly damaged Mr. Rama's government, but perhaps in many ways, if it had not damaged it, the situation would have been much more frightening than it is today. SPAK has set high standards for the functioning of justice and other institutions, whether the General Prosecutor's Office or the courts.
It has not managed to impose a new public morality, or a new social morality, or a new morality in public procurement, because public procurement is the weakest link where SPAK has focused to act, to indict and to place ministers, deputy prime ministers and others in the dock. But I do not see that this is being reflected in morality. We are seeing fear of senior officials to sign, but we do not see a new morality.
For SPAK's effect to be maximal, its influence on the political sphere had to be amplified through good communication and quality, so that society would also move. However, we are seeing, for example, that even new parties, and the DP itself, which is affected by SPAK's actions, use SPAK's achievements against its opponents. But if these "deeds" of SPAK had had an electoral impact, then the Socialist Party would not have received the majority it received in 2025.
