Today, the GJKKO is reviewing the request to change the security measure for the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta. During the session, it was learned that GJKKO judge Irea Gjoka has requested to resign from the trial of Meta's case, but despite her request, GJKKO head Erion Bani has not allowed such a thing.
Meanwhile, Meta himself was not present at today's session. The session to review the security measure against Meta is continuing at the GJKKO, on his request for the revocation or mitigation of the measure previously imposed.
We recall that on August 29, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office closed the investigations and sent Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi for trial, on charges of passive corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets.
The Special Prosecution Office claims that corruption schemes and abuses of power were uncovered during the investigation. In addition to Meta and Kryemadhi, three other people have been sent for trial. The first preliminary hearing will take place on September 25 and the file will be reviewed by Judge Irena Gjoka, who will decide whether to proceed with the trial, return it to SPAK or close the investigation.
