Today, as a result of bad weather, severe damage was recorded on the Adriatic coastline, in the Divjaka area, where the sea embankment has been breached.
Strong winds of up to force 8 created waves that reached up to 3 meters high, overrunning the embankment and causing it to collapse.
Over 70 meters of sandy embankment have been eroded and destroyed by the force of the sea, while salty waters have flooded towards the Karavasta lagoon and agricultural lands in the Bedat area.
Although investments in this embankment have been made four times, gradually moving towards the lagoon land, the sea has continued to advance, destroying everything in front.
The consequences are also severe for businesses in the area. According to them, the sea has taken about 1,800 meters of land, creating serious difficulties for the development of tourist activities.
As a result of marine erosion, over 1800 meters of beach line in the Bedat area have disappeared.
The sea has advanced towards the Karavasta lagoon, merging with it and significantly changing the natural map of the area.
