Albania, Kosovo and Croatia do not need anyone's permission to sign the trilateral agreement in the field of defense. This was the response of Defense Minister Pirro Vëngu, when asked about the reactions of official Belgrade regarding the agreement signed between the 3 states months ago.
The Minister of Defense said that the agreement is not against anyone and that an invitation to join has also been extended to Serbia, but without receiving a response yet.
According to him, this agreement is not built against anyone and emphasized that it is an open partnership, where an invitation to join has also been extended to Serbia.
"I have definitely noticed from time to time a sense of panic from the official statement in Belgrade. I can tell you that it is a tripartite agreement that is not built against anyone. I was even the first to express an invitation, why not, that Serbia, if it considers that the region, stability, sustainability and the Euro-Atlantic future of the countries in the region are important, then join this initiative," he emphasized.
Vengu stated that Albania, Kosovo and Croatia have initiated cooperation in military, training, academic-educational and military production aspects, emphasizing that this agreement aims to increase the capacities of the countries and is open to expansion with other members.
While commenting on the agreement with Kosovo, Vëngu said that the countries have an agreement regarding armored vehicles, not only due to concerns about the risks and threats in the region, but also to strengthen mutual cooperation in the field of defense.
"We have an agreement with Kosovo regarding armored vehicles. It is an open partnership. Many call it a defense agreement. We have noticed that all three countries have similar needs in terms of increasing capacities," he emphasized.
He reiterated that they do not take permission from anyone for this cooperation, describing it as an open and fruitful partnership for all three countries.
