In Maliq, there is water present in 133 homes, with five of them at risk of collapse.
Bad weather with heavy rainfall has caused major problems in the Korça region.
The Municipality of Kolonja has taken measures to divert the river's flow, in order to prevent damage to the Qinami bridge. Currently, the bridge in Novosela has been repaired and traffic continues normally.
Meanwhile, the water tank is being emptied, cleaned and chlorinated. Samples have been taken for analysis and the population has been notified not to consume the water until further notice.
In Maliq, there is water in 133 homes, while the problem is the damage to the Mesmal–Velçan–Selcë, Lozhan Fshat, Desmir–Moçan and Dolan Village axes. In these areas, 5 homes are at risk of collapse.
Traffic on the axes: Korçë–Ersekë, Zemblak–Goricë and Bilisht–Miras appears normal. The exception is the connecting bridge between the villages of Qinam–Selenicë, which remains blocked since yesterday evening.
In the Ersekë–Leskovik–3 Urat segment, traffic is proceeding without problems. Likewise, the Maliq–Lozhan–Gramsh Border road is normally passable.
In the Korça/Boboshticë–Dardhe segments, the road has been closed, and measures were taken by the entity by installing portable information signs for road narrowing.
The problematic situation has also been reported in the Fier region, while according to the latest updates, the situation is improving. The level of the Vjosa, Seman and Shkumbini rivers is decreasing while the waters have started to recede from agricultural lands.
Information on the situation in Fier Region
During the night and the following day, together with local structures, we monitored the situation and flows in the Vjosa, Seman and Shkumbin rivers, which resulted in:
- The Vjosa River has decreased in level, water has also started to recede from agricultural lands in Kashisht, Kafaraj
- The Shkumbin River is at normal levels and has not presented any problems.
- The Seman River has started to recede but is still at high levels. There is an overflow from the riverbed but within the embankment.
Yesterday, the structures of the Regional Drainage Board and the Irrigation Directorates in the municipality checked and monitored the embankments near the rivers, which resulted in the following:
- Up to now, we have not had any damage to the critical infrastructure of the embankments.
- We have no blocked road axes.
- We have no villages or neighborhoods isolated from water
- There are no underwater dwellings.
- Several huts (cattle removed) or hay storage areas have been affected by the Seman River, but within the embankment.
- Currently, the weather is with low intensity precipitation
- We have no need for support at this moment.
