The former Mayor of Elbasan, Qazim Sejdini, passed away at the age of 73.
It is learned that the former mayor was suffering from a serious illness.
Sejdini ran the Municipality of Elbasan for 3 terms, from 2007 to 2019 under the Socialist Party logo.
The life and career of former mayor Qazim Sejdini
Qazim Sejdini was born in Elbasan on February 12, 1951. He attended Jeronim De Rada high school and continued his higher education at Luigj Gurakuqi University of Shkodra, from 1968-1970, in the Physical Education department.
From 1973-1978, he continued his higher studies at the Aleksandër Xhuvani University of Elbasan, in the History-Geography department. In the years 1983-1987, he attended the Vojo Kushi Physical Education Institute in Tirana.
Qazim Sejdini performed military service, then in 1973 he worked as a teacher of history, geography and physical education in the 9-year school of Labinot Mal.
Then in 1974, he became the instructor of the Youth Committee in Elbasan. In the years 1983-1992 he worked at Sport Club Elbasani, first as Inspector of hand games and then he took the place of Head of Sports Club in Elbasani.
In 1970 Mr. Sejdini performed military service, then in 1973 he worked as a teacher of history, geography and physical education in the 9-year school of Labinot Mal. Then in 1974, he became the instructor of the Youth Committee in Elbasan. In the years 1983-1992 he worked at Sport Club Elbasani, first as Inspector of hand games and then he took the place of Head of Sports Club in Elbasani.
In 1995, Sejdini was elected President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Elbasan. While a year later, President of the Association of Customs Officers of Albania and from May 2002 to May 2004 he was President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Albania.
In October 2002 to May 2005 he was elected Prefect of Elbasan Prefecture. In 2007, he ran for mayor of Elbasan and won the elections, while he remained at the head of the Municipality for 12 years.
