Artur Zheji, a well-known journalist, analyst and intellectual, passed away after a cardiac arrest two days ago.
Former President Bamir Topi remembers him as a profound man, always with a book in his hand and with a special civic presence.
Bamir Topi states that Zheji was passionately committed to strengthening institutions and the state, placing national interest above political interest. According to him, Zheji remains a figure who did not impose himself, but stood out with his thoughtfulness and elegance.
"I have known Artur Zheji since 1975. There were "islands of friendship" even at that time. I had an age difference of 4 or 5 years. Zheji always walked alone and always carried a book. He came from an intellectual family and was oriented towards an education and was formed in an intellectual citizen family environment. He could adapt to anyone. Artur Zheji did not impose himself, he conducted the conversation according to his convictions, shared ideas with those in front of him with great elegance.
Artur Zheji was a model citizen. Zheji dealt with issues of national interest, he dealt with the role of institutions, the state. Political interest is momentary, but more important is the state and the structure of the state. The state never lets you down, the party lets you down," Topi told "News 24".
