The announcement came from Instagram, where three days ago Manos Nikolidakis, an entrepreneur who manages luxury villas in Lindos, Rhodes, posted a photo of himself and the Prime Minister. The comment is clear: "We had the honor and special pleasure of welcoming the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, to Rhodes, in absolute privacy, generously offering authentic Greek hospitality," says Nikolidakis, manager of the agency that rents the Lindos & Pefkos Hill villas.
The post is from a few days ago, but this is not the time when Meloni would have taken this private vacation, considering that on August 18, the Prime Minister was in Washington and the news reportedly saw her in Puglia immediately after returning from the US: on vacation in a resort in Locorotondo, with her daughter and her ex-partner. So when did she escape to Rhodes? According to the Pamfleti site, Giorgia Meloni "left the island ten days ago, after spending a few days relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Rhodes' nature".
Lindos is a beloved destination for celebrities of the 1970s and 1980s, such as Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, who had a magnificent villa in Rhodes where he composed his 2006 solo album On an Island. And it could become a haven for the prime minister during a busy summer. She is already expected at the Rimini summit on August 27.
