A serious road accident that shocked the country took the lives of sisters Elisa, 22, and Rezina Dhimaku, 20, yesterday evening.
The girls had gone to have a coffee with their friend Antonela, after getting permission from their parents. They even wanted to take their 10-year-old brother, but their father advised them to leave him at home, as "he was tired."
Meanwhile, their grandmother had sensed a bad warning and told the girls not to run away, saying she had "had a bad dream," but unfortunately her warning went unheeded.
In the accident that occurred on the Saranda-Delvinë road, in the place known as "Pularia", the vehicle in which the girls were traveling collided with another vehicle, causing their death and injuring another girl.
Rizal Dhimaku, known in the village as "Zotja", the shepherd who raised his children by collecting sage with hard work and dedication, is broken by grief and drowned in tears. His community is in mourning, while his family is coping with the heavy loss.
