The head of the Democratic party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the sad news of the death of the colossus of Albanian literature.
Berisha says that the sun has set forever for the world genius of letters, expressing his condolences to his family.
" Dear friends, today is death, mourning and pain for the entire Albanian nation. Ismail Kadare, the world genius of Albanian letters, and one of the greatest writers of the time, closed his eyes forever to remain immortal in the Olympics of his works.
Laureates of prestigious literary awards such as Man Booker, Prince des Asturies, Jerusalem Prize, Ismail Kadare's works were translated into about 45 languages of the world.
In the darkest times of the Hoxist regime when you could open your grave with a verse or a poem, with all the conformism that had prison and exile as the best alternative, Ismail Kadare managed to get out of Procust's bed with works like "Palace of Dreams" ” etc. for which the regime censored him for years. In the 1990s, Ismail Kadare was an advocate of freedoms and human rights and the opening of Albania. After leaving Albania, from exile in Paris he supported the Student Movement and the Democratic Revolution that overthrew the communist dictatorship in Albania.
Humbling with the greatest respect and the deepest gratitude before the memory and bright work of Ismail Kadare, I express my deepest condolences to his family, friends, relatives and pray together with them that the great soul of may he rest in the peace he deserves. Amen! ", writes Berisha.
