Today, activists welcomed Prime Minister Edi Rama with protests at QSUT, where he held a meeting with the leaders of this institution a few days after the scandal with the Oncology doctors.
After talking to the doctors for almost 1 hour, giving them advice that they should do their job, Rama went outside with the leaders of the Ministry of Health and the doctors where he was welcomed by the young protestors.
"O maskara, you once again removed the responsibility from yourself for the abuse at the Oncologist", were the calls of the young people who protested at the QSUT.
Then the police detained the 4 young men, who were sent to the premises of Police Station number 4, while the doctors involved in corruption are free.
Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized in the meeting with the leaders of the services at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, that what happened in the Oncology Hospital makes the government more aware of the things that still need to be done in the health system.
"I am here today to say that the criminal activity of that group of criminals, just like Tixja, cannot reject our effort to transform the health system from the slum where we found it into a system of functional services. In fact, what happens makes us more aware of the things that still need to be done", said Rama.
While the Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu, present at the meeting, informed that doctors will no longer be allowed to follow the same patient in public and in private: "Doctors employed in the public sector who work in private clinics must receive authorization from the head of the hospital and will be confirmed by the Ministry of Health. Doctors will be prohibited from attending the same patients even in private clinics. This practice has been tolerated over the years and was extended after this government decided to undertake health reform. Today we are in the last step of the reform and soon QSUT and other hospitals will receive full autonomy. Doctors who have opened private clinics will not be able to hold leadership positions in public hospitals or the University of Medicine".
