The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has reacted to the death of the great writer Ismail Kadare, who died today at the age of 88, in Tirana.
"We lost the greatest writer of all time, the world lost its greatest living writer. As we entered the second half of 2024, Kadare closed his eyes forever. But our eyes have seen and will see much better because of the imagination and knowledge of Ismail Kadare.
When he closed his eyes in his life and thought about the mountains of Albania and the precipices of history, while embroidering thousands of pages with Albanian as beautiful as the sky, we collectively saw more clearly and looked better, thought deeper and learned more. Our art and culture owe immeasurably to the ocean of his mind. The ship of Kadare's novels will sail endlessly, as long as the world will have Albanian readers and Albanians, writes Albin Kurti. Condolences to everyone," said Kurti.
