
At the age of 76, journalist and diplomat Fatmir Kumbaro passed away.
While being treated in the hospital for a breathing problem, he suffered a cardiac arrest, which was fatal for the life of the well-known journalist and diplomat.
Fatmir Kumbaro was born in Tirana on December 5, 1947.
Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana, he has performed important duties; journalist in the "Voice of the People" newspaper, lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana and General Director of Albanian Radio and Television in 1991.
Fatmir Kumbaro was one of the founders of the Socialist Party and for several years a member of its leadership. In the first years of pluralism, he was also a member of the Central Election Commission.
Fatmir Kumbaro also made a valuable contribution as an extraordinary and powerful ambassador of the Republic of Albania in North Macedonia and Bulgaria.
Special was the contribution of Mr. Fatmir Kumbaro in the delicate moments before and during the war in Kosovo, when in the responsibility of the Ambassador in North Macedonia he had to coordinate the actions of the Albanian state with the international factor, just as with the same responsibility and commitment he played engaged after the developments in North Macedonia during the KLA war until the signing of the Ohrid Agreement and then its implementation.
Intellectual authority and civic commitments, being fair and courageous, special culture and mastering eight foreign languages made Fatmir Kumbaron a special figure, imposing and admirable at the same time.
