"On the same level as Mother Teresa"/ Artan Fuga talks about the death

Academician Artan Fuga has spoken about the death of the colossus of Albanian literature, Ismail Kadare, who died yesterday at the age of 88.

In a direct link in "Breaking" on Top News, Fuga said that the name of Kadare has done honor to Albania and was at the same height as the figure of Mother Teresa.

The professor remembers a moment when he was a student and Ismail Kadare was invited, where one of the students asked him "you're a great writer but you're in your 50s, don't you regret that your life is gone, don't you envy us", and the answer his was unforgettable according to Fuga "I would never want to start a day that has passed from scratch, I have done my best and I would not want to bring down this spiritual and intellectual world that I have built".

"I had the opportunity to measure it in different European countries, mainly in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg, and it affected different layers of the population. I know very well that in Western university life, Kadare's contribution has been considered as an approach that sheds light on a reality that sociology studies. The name of Kadare did honor to Albania and was almost at the same height as Mother Teresa.

He used the historical culture of our country as an aesthetic subject to build literary works. I think a great intellectual like Kadare does not need honors. If you look at Kadare's attitude, he expressed it with the nature he had and with the attitudes he held, a great intellectual had a work that the political state often bombarded him, tired him, censored him, put pressure on him. I don't think it has any great importance for him today, but I don't believe that a person of such size needs state honors.

I am very lucky, every time I have met him I have experienced a kind of pressure. Although he was very social and very simple, with his jokes and ironies he made the meeting very good. I remember one thing that I can tell you, we were in the last year of university studies, in 1978, and they invited Ismail Kadare. We were a group of students studying philosophy, Ismaili comes to us, and one of us asks him to tease him a little that he was not lazy with irony and asks him, he says you are a great writer but you are in your 50s, aren't you sorry that your life is gone, don't you envy us?

He said I would never want to start a day that has passed from scratch, I have done my best and I would not want to bring down this spiritual and intellectual world that I have built. We never forget that lesson he said, the idea was that it doesn't matter what biological moment you are in but every day of your life builds a spiritual world. It was something of great value", said Artan Fuga.
