Gazmend Braçi, one of the brothers who was widely discussed in the media in the serious incident of the murder of Italian businessman Edoardo Sarchi, has reacted to journalist Elton Qyno, expressing deep pain and disappointment over what has happened, not only to his close friend but also to the very name of his family, who were accused in many media outlets as perpetrators of the crime.
Through a telephone conversation, Gazmend Braçi expressed that he feels relieved that the Gjirokastra Police have solved the incident and identified the perpetrator of the murder of his close Italian friend.
He hopes that Kamber Sulaj will now be located and arrested by the police, to completely whitewash the serious crime.
" ...we all feel relieved now and we are hoping, by cooperating with the state police, that the perpetrator will be located and arrested. From the moment the incident occurred in our presence, we, my father, and my brother, have been at the disposal of the police, cooperating and telling what happened that night... ", said the partner of the deceased Italian, Gazmend Braçi.
The latter told journalist Qyno that: " ...Edoardo Sarchi was an old friend of our family and this human relationship had been built for years, not only because of business but also because of friendship and mutual respect ...".
Braçi further added that he was at the police's disposal, assisting the investigation team with concrete details on the dynamics of the conflict, since he was at the scene and not his brother, Danjeli.
" ...I went to the police today, where I cooperated with the investigation group. We had nothing to hide about this serious event, where our friend was killed... ", Gazmend Braçi confessed.
Braçi expresses his extreme disappointment with the reporting of several media outlets in Albania, which for almost 24 hours in a row attacked him and members of his family, concluding that they were the perpetrators of the serious crime.
" …We have not given any contradictory evidence to the police with the intention of hiding the crime. We have told everything we knew and were interested in shedding light on the serious incident that happened to our friend. Many of the media made me, my brother and my father, perpetrators of the crime. But how could we, 3 members of a family, be perpetrators of the murder of our friend? How could this be imagined? Both we and our friend Edoardo, have been killed 100 times by the media. I am glad that the incident has now been revealed by the police and for this I want to thank the Gjirokastra Police, who revealed the incident in record time. Now I expect those media that accused us to take a stand and apologize by deleting all abusive articles... " - says Gazmend Braçi.
Braçi and his friend Edoardo Sarchi had gone hunting in the Salaria area of Tepelena over the weekend, where after a conflict over the high beams of the car and an overtaking, they clashed with Kamber Sulaj, who initially threatened them with the words "...I'm from Vlora, you don't know who I am...".
A few minutes later, this person from Vlora began shooting 3 times with a firearm from a long distance, resulting in the death of Edoardo Sarchi, after 1 bullet severed the main artery in his leg.
Currently, Kamber Sulaj is wanted by the police, after the Gjirokastra Court has imposed the security measure "arrest in prison" on charges of "Murder in other qualifying circumstances" and "Unlicensed possession of firearms".
