Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu believes that Trump's arrival will not have as much impact on Albanian politics as expected.
According to him, Trump, just like in his first term, will have a full-power ambassador in Albania, as in the case of Yuri Kim, who will be his representative in Albania for the next 4 years.
" Trump is focused on a greater America. Even on the agenda of the guests, he is oriented to break the alliance of Russia, China, Brazil. He has entered to join Canada, Panama. In 4 years, Tirana will hardly enter Washington's agenda. Albania is very peripheral on the agenda of the Trump administration.
An investment influences personal lobbying to have Albania as an island with a pro-American nation. At the core of the problem, according to the people surveyed, that island neither improves nor worsens Tirana's relationship with Washington. The issue is what kind of relations Kosovo-Serbia will maintain. It is seen as a strategic relationship between Serbia and the US that has not happened since the war. We should worry whether Albanians will have that privilege of being the main partner in the region or whether Serbia is getting closer and we are risking the position of being the darlings of the last decade.
The other issue regarding Meta, Berisha and Rama will be clarified very soon after the elections. Trump will not deal with Albania at all. He will find a second Yuri Kim with full power to delegate those powers. So that the ambassador will also be Donald Trump in Albania. For 4 years we will deal with the ambassador, not with Trump ", said Spahiu in an interview for the "Frontline" show on "Report TV".
