A 'Tirons' takes command of the USS Pearl Harbor, the story of the Albanian commander (Video)

An Albanian will take command of one of the American warships. It is Alban Dervish, a former student of the 'Petro Nini' school who will command the USS Pearl Harbor from June 2025.

The announcement was made by the US embassy in Tirana.

"A 'Tirons' taking command of a US warship! Meet Commander Alban Dervish, the Albanian-American who will take command of the USS Pearl Harbor in June 2025. Born in Tirana and originally from a military family, Alban and his parents immigrated to the United States 25 years ago to pursue the American dream," the Embassy's message reads.

Dervishi, along with his family, emigrated to the United States when he was 16 years old, in his second year at the 'Petro Nini' high school in Tirana.
