The National Food Authority has blocked a large quantity of chicken meat imported from Brazil which resulted in the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium.
After analyzing a sample of chicken product (frozen fillet) imported from Brazil, which tested positive for the presence of the Salmonella Typhimurium bacterium, the National Food Authority intervened immediately.

Referring to the analysis at ISUV on 21.03.2025, for the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium in a sample of chicken product (frozen fillet), imported from Brazil, the AKU has intervened in a coordinated manner with the structures responsible for tracking, verifying and blocking the product in question, as well as for taking administrative and legal measures against the responsible entity.
The importing entity was inspected to monitor traceability, which was referred to the bodies of the Tirana Judicial District Prosecutor's Office for further procedural actions, regarding the elements of the criminal offense of failure to comply with traceability criteria and providing incorrect information.
The National Food Authority assures the public that the situation is being continuously monitored and that every action has been taken in the interest of transparency, safety and protection of the health of citizens.
