Analyst Aleksandër Çipa said that the lack of representation of the Democratic Party by its candidates in the November 9 by-elections for 5 municipalities in the country is a reason for Sali Berisha to justify his defeat in the elections.
Çipa stated that there was no preliminary test to see who was most liked by the candidates.
"Both parties, in the way they chose their candidates, were deceitful and did not respect the norms of selecting candidates from party structures. There was no preliminary test of who was liked by them. Berisha's opposition refused to be represented by its own candidates and supported independents who had the agreement of the opposition. This constitutes logical nonsense. The opposition chose this deceitful formula to have a complete alibi for losing the elections ," he said.
Çipa stated that citizens have lost trust in political parties, which was also shown by the non-participation in the vote. He emphasized that the non-participation in the vote is a silent protest, while adding that the refusal of young people to participate in the process should alarm us.
"Political consumerism on both sides of politics is the reality of the crisis and distrust that is observed in the country's political scene, the refusal to vote is of great significance. Public opinion needs to get out of this state, it needs an alienation of this situation, as it seems to be keeping the country in an internal depression.
"Seeing also the average age that participated in this voting process remains 60 years old and this is scary, it should alarm us. This situation is the reason why Albania today has a deep psychological and social crisis. These are temporary elections, but with a one and a half year mandate that the candidate will receive, no surprises are expected to happen. But I see the non-participation in the vote as a silent protest," he told "Report TV".
