Salaries drive young people away from the countryside! Experts call on

The monthly income of a worker in the agricultural sector is 54 thousand new lek.

This figure is not at all attractive for young people to invest in land work, the lack of labor for this sector is another major problem, after the market one.

The labor force in rural areas has already become a challenge for agricultural and livestock businesses, because wages in agriculture are offered on a daily basis due to the seasonal nature of the work. Faced with these conditions, many young people have preferred to leave village life forever.

"Having this salary level, there are few opportunities and space for a young person to develop professionally in rural areas, causing many of them to choose to go to the city and return home for dinner, or to see a solution in emigration that does the same job process but has a different salary assessment," says Erion Muça, an employment expert.

According to employment expert Erion Muça, part of the blame for why the village has been left without workers lies with the businesses themselves, as they do not offer good working conditions, starting from the payment of social and health contributions, to days off.

"There are very few agrotourism enterprises or farms that provide for their employees' needs, which makes the way the employment relationship is handled in this sector more cash-based."

In the areas of Lushnja and Fier, where intensive agriculture is carried out, a day of work in greenhouses costs 1,500-2,000 new lekë. Farmers warn that next season they will demand a salary increase because working in agriculture is extremely difficult./TCH
