Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders who participated in the summit that took place in Tirana, had lunch today at the "Padam" restaurant.
Fundim Gjepali, the well-known chef of the restaurant, showed what he cooked for the leaders who were present. He said that in the end President Zelensky complimented him on the lunch.
"I had proposed several different menus to the state protocol and they decided on a menu that we consulted together. It was a meat based menu. A light menu, with very fresh things because then they had other meetings. It was a business lunch, not a fun lunch. It went very well, the President complimented me at the end of the lunch, I went and greeted him. We served the menu to everyone with Albanian products, with Albanian wine and it was a very rewarding experience for us as a restaurant because to host such characters especially in a difficult moment such as Ukraine at this moment, I hope they find peace and we did ours, we made a very dignified reception", said Gjepali for "Tv Klan".
The chef described in detail all the dishes that were served to Zelensky and the others.
"In those moments, neither journalists, nor photographers, nor videos were allowed. It was very well booked for lunch. I had a very short tasting menu. The first course was a semi-roasted and lightly smoked veal capaço with vegetables and a cheese sauce. The second course was a creamy chickpea shortbread and a paprika sauce. The third dish was a risotto with lamb and Dumre's saffron. The main course was a fillet of beef with country truffles and a cocoa sauce. Dessert was a hazelnut and brown rice mousse. The summer was an Albanian summer. He liked it a lot, it was a very good experience for me that we hosted a character of such a high level", he said.
Gjepali indicated that the security conditions were very high. It was a unique experience for him as he added that he only had such a high level of security for the American President Joe Biden, when he cooked for him in Rome.
