On the eve of the May 11 elections, Sali Berisha is clearing the field of disobedient exponents, deepening the division in the DP. Several MPs have withdrawn from the primaries, giving up on running again in the elections.
Analyst Arben Meçe, in an interview with "Newsline", stated that the primaries are in a process without a future and political figures are leaving peacefully, in protest against Berisha.
According to him, the DP is a party led by a leader who only works for Berisha.
"They have understood that it is useless for this demagogic process and are leaving calmly. They know that they are excluded but because of their conviction they do not want to produce conflict in the DP, despite the fact that at this moment they are clear that Berisha has isolated them from the list. Berisha will create a loyal structure of his own, which is not related to victory, by producing a loyal grouping in the further fight that he will wage", Meçe said.
Asked what these movements could bring, he said that they simply create dissatisfaction.
"There will be dissatisfaction, but everyone has understood that creating conflict with Berisha within the party is futile, that's how this peaceful departure phenomenon happens. The primaries are a false demagogic process. Every move by Berisha is essentially demagogy. It covers up a decision-making that is authoritarian," added Meçe.
The analyst added that the main figures of the DP have not changed themselves, describing their behavior as primitive.
"When I see Noka's attacks, I go back to 2015 and I see the DP in that format. The main reason that the DP lost in 2015 was this anarchic spirit, of the 'land of the strong', of the strong man that anyone who goes against him is unacceptable. They have a very primitive sense of violence. I see the Noka of 15 years ago who is attacking. They have changed everything but they have not changed themselves. They have only changed the demagogy and the so-called propaganda action that they are doing now. They are terribly primitive. All they are missing is Basha," Meçe said.
