Lawsuit against Mayor Kreshnik Hajdari, Lumas village still without water

Even though they protested for two years for the construction of a water supply and sued the mayor of Kuçova, Kreshnik Hajdari, for abuse of public funds, some residents of the village of Lumas still suffer from a lack of drinking water.

The construction of the water supply was completed a few months ago, but the new pipes that were installed do not deliver Sinec's water to the entire village, while the previous suction pumps were put out of service.

Even those residents who are supplied with water report that it is undrinkable, as it has a high sulfur content. They say they are forced to fill up water from natural springs in the mountains or be supplied through trucks.

The residents of the village of Lumaj are demanding from the responsible institutions water filtration and supply to the entire village, as they are buying drinking water with lek.

"For years, we have invested in buying pumps that supplied us with water from the area's natural springs, but not from the Sinec spring, whose water is undrinkable because it is lye water. The analyses conducted on this water have confirmed that it has a high sulfur content and we only use this water for animals. We are back to the Middle Ages, filling water in our arms or with animals from the area's natural springs. Unable to fill it from these springs, we are forced to buy it. We do not understand why this water supply was built when half of the village of Lumas and many surrounding villages do not receive water from it, when even those who do receive it cannot use it for drinking," the residents of the village of Lumas told "News 24".
