The US plan on the funds it will distribute to the 6 countries of the region, including Albania, is revealed

The United States of America will allocate 105.6 million dollars this year in order to advance reforms in the Western Balkans.

According to the budget report for 2024 made public by the Department of State itself, the amount in question will go to 6 countries in the region (including Albania) with the main focus being the installation of the rule of law, the fight against corruption, the promotion of reforms and receiving of measures against Russian malign influence.

" US assistance to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia is intended to support reforms related to EU membership, transatlantic cooperation, and efforts to counter Russian influence and disinformation. Also, great attention will be paid to the measures to stop the departure of young people. The USA seems to see with concern the flight of what is called "brains". There will also be support for the progress of the economy and the growth of investments. In the budget, it is emphasized that great attention is paid to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

" The assistance programs will engage and empower local government and youth to catalyze economic growth, curb the "brain drain" and promote coexistence between different ethnicities. The aid will also increase government accountability through greater fiscal transparency. The financing will promote private sector-led economic growth, increase energy security including clean energy, cyber security, a sound financial and regulatory environment, and support the EU-facilitated dialogue on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia ", the report emphasizes.

As far as Albania is concerned, special focus is given to the Reform of Justice. In the following days, the Pamphlet will publish the full report on our country, along with the key sectors and how US funds are allocated.

But what we can say is that Americans continue to make it clear that corruption is a problem for them. Likewise, justice and the establishment of the rule of law are key priorities, both in Albania and throughout the region. The question then arises: For whom do the US bells toll? Which of the rulers will end up behind bars? / Pamphlet
