Floods in Durrës, Tela: Consequence of corruption, responsible structures a

Journalist Andi Tela has harshly criticized Edi Rama's approach to the floods, emphasizing that the situation is not the result of an extraordinary natural disaster, but the result of mismanagement and corruption.

According to him, the images from Durrës create the impression of a catastrophe of extraordinary proportions, while only ordinary rain has fallen.

Tela stated that this clearly shows the failure of the responsible structures that are paid to prevent such floods, through the maintenance of sewers and water mains.

He emphasized that citizens pay high taxes for infrastructure, which does not go to its intended purpose, but is stolen, causing residents to pay twice: first for prevention that is not implemented and then for compensation for damages.

Tela noted that this situation is repeated in some areas of the country, such as Durrës, Gjirokastra and Kurbini, while in other areas with similar conditions, such as Berat, floods do not occur due to better management.

"Now when, when I heard, when I heard this, this message from Mr. Rama, I remembered again the irony he had with SPAK and other bodies, using that famous joke of 'Loro Boriç' that the rain has its work, we have our work. And we have our work in the sense of propaganda.

So, if you see these drone images of Durrës, you get the impression that you are in one of those places where a hurricane or typhoon floods everything, or a giant hydroelectric dam breaks and produces this flood, which you can't do anything about.

But it has rained. It has only rained and you see these images. And you understand very well that it is no longer nature's fault. It is the fault of management, of the management of the structures that are paid to prevent these images from being created.

The citizens of Durrës, of that area there, pay taxes to fix the sewers, to fix the water supply. These taxes are stolen. And after these taxes are stolen, now they are asked to collect other taxes, perhaps from us who live here in Tirana, to compensate for the damage done to these residents. So they pay taxes twice. Both in Tirana, but also in Durrës, high infrastructure taxes are paid for new constructions.

So whoever builds new buildings has had their taxes increased, several times, and with this money it was assumed that these sewerage options would be created, so that these scenes of flooding would not be created. Compliments to SYRI for yesterday and today, because I have followed all the reports coming from the field, and there is no need for experts, geologists in the studio to show what is happening.

You just have to listen to the residents of those areas, living there they know very well what is happening. And when they talk, even in Durrës, even in Gjirokastër, even in Kurbin, in every area where you see flooding, they know the problem. They know it and they say, this pipe here is narrower than that pipe there and that is why the flooding happens.

This gorge where the Vjosa will flow is smaller than all the power that comes and should have been open. In Kurbin, the flood occurs for this reason, in Gjirokastra, that is, to understand, in Gjirokastra, a flood occurs. Why doesn't it happen in Berat? Because it's the same structure and there's Osumi there. Agreed? Why doesn't it happen there and it happens in Gjirokastra?

"So it's all about how it was managed before the disaster happened. And by not having control, taking the funds and wasting them in their own way to steal and produce tenders where they steal again with their companies, we come to this conclusion ," Andi Tela told "Syri TV".
